With a waterproof phone, you will be able to record videos under water, go near pools, the bathroom, etc., without the fear of damaging your phone.

I could give you a whole lot of reasons why getting a waterproof phone is great. If you’re unsure if your current phone is waterproof, here is how you can check if it is.

If you’re only here because you want to get a water resistant Samsung device, here are my top picks.

Overall Best: Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus

s10 plus 1

The Galaxy S10 Plus is currently the best water resistant Samsung phone.

Although it has been around since last year (2019), one of the reasons why it is the overall best is because it’s not as expensive as it was when it was released, but packed with features that are very relevant and premium.

Here are some other reasons why the S10 Plus is a really good waterproof Samsung phone.

  • It’s got wireless charging.
  • It can charge other devices using wireless technology.
  • It has a fingerprint scanner under the display (not on the back).
  • Supports fast charging.
  • Comes with an Audio Jack for your wired headphones.
  • Can expand memory by using an SD card.
  • Is fast, you won’t experience lags while gaming or carrying out most activities.
  • Can shoot slow motion videos.

While those are really great features the phone has, here are a few things I don’t like about the device. Might not be a deal breaker for you, though.

  • Fingerprint scanner won’t work if the phone has a glass screen protector. (This is a common issue among the S10’s which I’m not sure has been fixed yet).
  • You will have to take out one SIM card if you want to use an SD card.

Best Budget: Samsung Galaxy S8

s8

The Galaxy S8 takes the spot for the best Budget Waterproof Samsung device in today’s list.

Yes, even though the S5, S7 and S7 Edge are way cheaper and waterproof as well, they aren’t going to give you the best features you require in today’s world in a phone.

So, the S8 is much cheaper than it was about 3 years ago but still brings 4GB of RAM. Which, in my opinion, is the recommended amount of RAM for devices to run smoothly.

You can get it around the $200 range today.

  • Can be upgraded to Android 9 Pie.
  • Has a nice display.
  • You can expand storage.
  • Shoots slow motion videos @240fps.
  • Supports wireless charging.
  • Supports fast charging.
  • Has an iris scanner as well as a fingerprint scanner.

The not so great things about the S8 are listed below.

  • Battery isn’t that great for heavy users.
  • Not ideal for heavy gaming.
  • Curved screen may cause accidental activation.

Best Upgrade: Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G

s20 ultra 5g

I’m putting this phone in the list because one of the cons of the S20 Ultra is: internal storage isn’t that great.

With the S20 Ultra 5G, you get a lot more options when it comes to storage. As well as the same big battery and cameras.

Not only that, you also get 5G.

Now, I wouldn’t really recommend getting a 5G phone since 5G is still in its early stages. You’re definitely going to need the big battery the phone comes with because 5G will definitely use a lot of battery compared to 4G.

But if you really want to have a feel of 5G, with great download and upload speeds, then go ahead and get the S20 Ultra 5G.

Pros of the S20 Ultra 5G.

  • Comes with 5G.
  • It’s got wireless charging.
  • It can charge other devices using wireless technology.
  • It has a fingerprint scanner under the display (not on the back).
  • Supports fast charging.
  • Offers more storage space options compared to S20 Ultra.
  • Can expand memory by using an SD card.
  • Is fast, you won’t experience lags while gaming or carrying out most activities.
  • Can shoot slow motion videos.

Cons of the S20 Ultra 5G.

  • It is an expensive device.
  • No Audio Jack.
  • You will have to take out one SIM card if you want to use an SD card.
