Design and Display

Unlike some previous phones I’ve reviewed, on the Z5s, what you see is what you get. The all glass build is really an all glass build.

Coming in three different colors, you get to pick either a Starry Night Grey, Love Orange or a Titanium Blue to suit your taste.

The overall look is eye-catching, a water drop notch is placed at the top which houses the selfie camera.

Lenovo Z5s Design

On the back, the triple camera setup is placed with a Dual-LED dual-tone flash right under.

This time Lenovo is placing the fingerprint sensor on the back, unlike the Z5 pro which has an in-display sensor.

On display, the Z5s has a 6.3 inch screen which is an LTPS IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. Large for some awesome gaming experience and video watching.

It also has a screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels for those clear displays we seek for on mobile phones.

Display is pretty good on the Lenovo Z5s, you won’t be blown away, but you won’t be disappointed as well.

Starting with the selfie camera, it is a 16 Megapixel camera, which is good enough for some really decent pictures and videos. The selfie camera records 1080p videos at 30 frames and that’s quite impressive.

To sum it up, the selfie camera will live up to its expectation, and with the Z5s considered a mid-range phone, the cameras are very impressive.

On the back, the Z5s comes with a 16 Megapixel + 8 Megapixel + 5 Megapixel triple camera setup. You will be taking some perfect pictures with this one.

Okay, maybe I’m taking it too far with “perfect”, but you will be getting some really high quality pictures with those lenses.

I’m sure a lot of people will be going for this phone for the camera and that’s a good reason. But it’s not the only reason why I think this is a really good phone. Let’s keep going.

Processor and Memory

The Z5s comes with Android 9.0 (Pie) and ZUI 10, both combined to give you a pretty decent user interface and latest features both Android and Lenovo have to offer.

For performance, the phone comes equipped a Kryo 260 Octa-core processor with a clock speed of 2.2GHz.

The chipset on the phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset which is one of the best out there for some high-end games.

For graphics, the Z5s comes with an Andreno 616 GPU.

So far, I’m seeing some really high performance rate. Everything combined will give you a really smooth experience.

RAM and Internal Storage

Although clock speed and chipset will give you some awesome experience, RAM will definitely improve on that as well.

Coming in two variants, you can either get a 6GB of RAM version or a 4GB of RAM version.

Both will give you a smooth, lag-free experience and you won’t have to bother about apps getting terminated by the phone so it can save memory.

On internal storage options, you either get 128GB of internal storage (for the 6GB of RAM) or 64GB of internal storage (for the 4GB of RAM).

Although you can expand with a microSD card, you’ll have to give up the second SIM slot to do that (I’m sure a lot of you will find this uncomfortable).

If you aren’t bothered about that, then you’ll be glad to know that you can expand with up to 256GB on the SD card.

In my opinion, with or without an SD card, storage will be pretty okay. On the 128GB version, you won’t be bothered about filling up your phone with media files for a while.

Battery and Connectivity

Powered by a 3,300 mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery, you’ll be getting some good screen time on the phone.

I wouldn’t really consider a 3,300 mAh battery powerful (from experience) because I am a heavy user, but so far, I haven’t come across any negative remarks about battery life (probably cause the phone is still new and hasn’t gotten in my hands yet).

Something I can happily say about the battery is that you’ll be able to charge it in a short period of time because it supports fast charging.

Light users need not to worry about constantly needing to charge.

For connectivity, you get 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, bluetooth, microUSB 2.0 and dual SIM cards (where SIM 2 slot can be replaced with a microSD card) etc.

The phone costs about $200 for the 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

Cost of the 6GB of RAM version is currently unknown to me, but I’ll update you guys when I find out.

Really impressive phones are constantly being released and it is getting hard to choose one, when you start comparing.

With the Z5s, you will be getting really good performance, really nice photos and battery life too.

Only thing I don’t like about it is the fact that you can’t have two SIM cards on the phone with an SD card as well.

Overall, I think it is a “picture” perfect phone, and you’ll be getting a nice experience with it.
